Merry Christmas from Jake, mommy and daddy. I thought you might like this awesome photo mommy took today using daddy’s professional camera. Daddy has been tutoring mommy on all aspects of shooting portraits and helped her to capture this picture. Daddy said it was a tad overexposed and mommy should have used some exposure compensation. Daddy is very into his photography and has taken so many cool pictures of us all. Regardless of the exposure I like the photo because I’m wearing my new Santa Claus outfit. It’s my first Christmas so I’m very excited. Hopefully I will get a surfboard for Christmas! I will pass you onto my daddy now. Merry Christmas and happy New Year. Little dude Jake.

Thanks for the intro son, you are the best. Today is my last day in the studio.  I will be out of the studio until January 13th and will not have access to emails or a phone. My brain and body need a break before the 2010 season gets underway. A big thank you to all the readers of the blog for your continued support, emails and comments. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. I look forward to catching up with you all in the New Year.

All the best, Crash

This morning I was able to take a few snap shots of my beautiful son Jake. The natural light coming through the bedroom window was stunning. He is my inspiration and capturing these beautiful moments is something Ilona and I will cherish forever.

For the photographers out there, 10 minute shoot, camera used was the Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 70-200 2.8 IS L lens. Light was morning natural light only coming through a 6′ x 6′ bedroom window. Shutter speed was approx 60th/second at f3.2. Photoshop was limited to a curves adjustment layer and some sharpening.

Also, a big thank you to everyone who leaves comments on the blog. Much appreciated and you guys and gals ROCK!

My dad and I chillin’ in the French Riviera. He was swimming way to long in the sea, I went to get him as I thought he would get eaten by a shark. Check out the way I’m grabbing his arm. Classic! Must be 1979-1980.

Baby Jake! How intelligent and awesome are those eyes? He absolutely loves his Ferrari t-shirt aunty Paullina bought for him. He wants to wear it everyday. I have a feeling he will be driving a Ferrari one day with Dad chillin’ in the passenger seat ;-) We love him so much!

Crash Taylor Photography is rockin’, just booked two more awesome Crash-Art wedding adventures for 2010 today. Between the weddings, upcoming seminars/workshops, portrait shoots and personal projects I think I’m going to have to hire a full time assistant sooner than later. Saturday I will be at Thrumpton Hall photographing the wedding adventure of Lindsey and Mark so stay tuned. Today I spent an hour at Wollaton Hall with Lindsey, Mark and their son Nico for their engagement shoot. Photos will be posted later tonight. Life is good!

I love this photo taken in Brentwood, California (1977) with me in front of my dad wanting him to take me for a ride in his new car. Boy did I love cruising in that car!  Next to us is my cousin Anthony who was visiting from the UK. Great memories!

Thursday I headed up to Manchester to visit Brett Harkness. I was invited by Brett and Kristie to attend one of their wedding portfolio days as a guest. I will be interviewing Brett in the near future so I was interested in seeing what he is doing on the education side of things. To keep a long story short, if you are a professional photographer in need of some inspiration or somebody just starting out, these courses are awesome. The day is action packed with Brett and Kristie sharing everything you need to know to take your photography and business skills to the next level. As Brett says, “I believe in straight talking, having fun and sharing as much as I can with other photographers on our courses. I will tell you what you need to know in order to make your businesses and your photographic ‘eye’ & skills grow”

It was a great day and I was definitely inspired. The delegates all said they had a great time and will be back for more. A big thank you to my new friends Brett and Kristie for inviting me to their beautiful studio. Your passion and enthusiasm is awesome. Below are a few images I took, a big thank you to the models who were rockin’ it up.

I try to take 3-5 workshops a year for inspirational purposes and to see how other professionals work. As you know, photography is something you are constantly learning and know matter how long you have been a professional photographer you should always be wanting to learn more and more in order to be the best creative artist you can be. Next year I’m hoping to make it to Paris to attend the Jerry Ghionis intensive workshop. Loving it!

A few recent photos of baby Jake and mum. Hopefully in the next month we will all be in the studio having our family photos taken. He is the coolest little dude on the planet and changing so much everyday. Time now to take him for a long walk and then come home and make salmon cream pasta. Hope everybody is having a nice weekend.

Today, I received a thank you card from Nick and Sam, which made my day. It made me feel so good I thought I would share it with you. I photographed their beautiful wedding last month in Epperstone village and at Woodborough Hall in Nottinghamshire.

“Words cannot adequately express our gratitude for everything you did to create the magical images of our special day. People should not ask themselves whether they can afford to have you take their wedding pictures; they should ask whether they can afford not to!”

Thank you so much Nick and Sam for everything, it was a pleasure to photograph your special day. The best thing about it all is that I made two new friends. No wait three, I can’t forget Lottie. :-)

Today was a good day! I was hanging out with my Nottingham wedding photographer friends Cathy Higgens and Will Pateman. We were at Clumber Park with our beautiful model Emily. The weather was awesome and the park was full of shooting opportunities. It’s great to get out with friends and the 5D Mark II’s and just wander around for hours creating images. All these images were captured with the Canon 5D Mark II at iso 400. Lenses used were the Canon 16-35mm, 24-70mm and the 70-200mm. Lighting was natural light, reflected light and Canon 580 triggered by the Canon ST-E2. Post Production was one full hour of fun in Photoshop!

A comment which really made my day. Thank you so much Sorin, much appreciated. Sorin is an excellent photographer from Cyprus. His website is down at the moment for maintenance but when it’s back up make sure to check it out. www.fotovogue.com

This is becoming boring, Crash. :-) Your work is top mark, regardless of how much I am looking to find a reason to leave naughty comments, I can’t find nothing!
You become like Roger Federer: there is no reason for somebody to compete against him, because the the chances to win against him are nil.

Now seriously, your photography style is as sexy and entertaining as ever, well done!
